Marketing in over 50 countries and 10 languages, Lifeplus is a global leader in the dietary supplement market.
During their recent re-branding process, Lifeplus asked us to do a ground up rebuild/redesign of their e-commerce website.
With needs specific to dietary supplement companies, they needed a website and Content Management System (CMS) that could handle the difference between regions of the world where dietary supplements are regulated differently, and can be easily localized into a variety of languages.
Though we considered many off-the-shelf solutions like Magento and Drupal, in the end, their business needs were sufficiently complex and unique as to require a 100% custom solution.
We ended up writing the website from scratch in PHP and MySQL, while integrating the e-commerce part of the site into their .NET back-end via web services.
The result of this new website is a fast and efficient shopping experience for the user. Which leads directly into the company's existing billing, fulfillment and shipping systems.
The system also makes it easy for content managers to edit the website, as well as localize it for any of the 10 supported languages the site can display itself in.
Content can be created and managed via any desktop computer or tablet with an internet connection. So content managers throughout Lifeplus's four global offices can easily make edits to the website.
Marketers can create banners and product specials, then schedule them to become live or deactivated at any point in the future; allowing the website to dynamically execute marketing campaigns without any additional management interactions.
When viewing the Lifeplus website in other countries, the content can be localized to any number of languages per country.
This creates a fully functional system where content can be altered both by legal region (where regulations limit what can be stated about dietary supplements), as well as language. This creates a fully localized experience for every user, regardless of their preferred language or country of origin.
The bottom line on the Lifeplus re-branding and new shopping experience can't be denied. After the launch of the new website, the company has entered a period of skyrocketing growth. Currently this 26-year-old company is experience double-digit growth month over month and is on schedule to more than double in size in 2014.
